The "3000 system" was the brand name for the one of the first professional MPEG-2 broadcast systems launched by NTL at IBC in September 1994. After the acquisition of the NTL Advanced products division by NDS in late 1995, many components were developed included MPEG2 encoders, multiplex processing, DVB-S and DVB-T modulators and professional receivers. Much of this equipment found it's way in to amateur service.
