A Portsdown 4 can be set to use a fixed IP (IPV4, not IPV6) address if required. It is preferable to have the network router allocate a fixed IP address, but this is not always possible, so the facility has been added to the Portsdown 4.

Setting the Fixed Address

  • Select "Menu 3"
  • Select "Network Config"
  • Select "Edit Fixed IP"
  • Enter the Fixed IP address
  • Enter the LAN Router Address
  • Enter the DNS Server Address (often the same as the router address)
  • You can then check the settings and touch the screen to get back to the Network Config Menu
  • Touch the "Auto IP by DHCP" button
  • The new settings will be displayed and the system will reboot when the screen is touched.
  • Once the system has rebooted, the settings can be checked (if an active network cable is connected) from the "List Network Devices" button.
