This is a table of commonly used three-letter acronyms (TLA),used by the ATV community.

Bit rate		Number of bits per second of data - used in DATV to describe the video and audio bit rate before modulation	https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_rate
Symbol rate		Used in DATV to describe the actual modulation rate after FEC	https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbol_rate
STB	Set top box	Typical stand alone satellite receiver designed for consumer use
FTA	Free To Air	Describes a consumer set top box which is capable of receiving non encrypted signals - as opposed to a Sky STB which is not capable of receiving UK DATV signals
